ABOUT PRENATAL MASSAGE
Like any Massage Therapy, Prenatal Massage is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. This therapy is a great way to soothe the nervous system, aid in better sleep, help alleviate other common health issues associated with pregnancy, including some swelling, sciatica, sinus issues, anxiety, and headaches. Also, many women find that pregnancy massage improve overall wellness, promote relaxation and help with lower back pain. Be sure to add this type of massage to your normal prenatal care routine to help you have a healthier and happier pregnancy.
At the ELEOS Massage, Prenatal Massages are done only by highly educated and specially trained therapists to easy away the aches and pains that may arise while you are expecting. Our massage therapist use Swedish Massage techniques to help reduce stress and enhance energy.
The first step in a session is to make you comfortable. Special pillows and cushions will be used to properly support specific areas of your body. Prenatal Therapists know basic techniques, but will also use their skills to individualize each session for your needs. This type of massage requires different methods in order to protect mother and child, including laying on the side of the body or the back, rather than the stomach. Prenatal Massage should be relaxing and comfortable for you, so Deep Tissue techniques will be avoided.
Pregnancy Massage offers a number of benefits, and it's always a good idea to discuss with your therapist any everyday symptoms you'd like to see relieved. Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from the variety of massage techniques. However, women in high-risk pregnancies MUST consult their doctor before getting the massage. If you experience discomfort at any time during the pregnancy massage, tell your therapist immediately.
